switching domain from wordpress.com to wordpress.org

    Hi,
    I originally set up an account and domain on wordpress.com, but later decided I wanted to switch over to wordpress.org for more customization options. I was able to set up an account on wordpress.org but it is showing as a temporary domain because I guess my wordpress.com account still owns the domain. If I delete it on wordpress.com, will my wordpress.org account be able to have the domain? I really just need it transferred over and I’m not sure how to go about it.

    Hi Stephanie,

    Are you speaking of bocksabroad.com? Our logs show you cancelled that domain on 3 December, a few hours after you registered it. That domain has since been removed from our system and deleted at the registry, so we don’t have any control over it any more.

    If you still want to use that domain you’ll need to register it again, either at your new host, or at another domain provider if your host doesn’t offer that service, and then connect it to your hosting provider’s servers. Their support is the best place to ask how to do that.
