Switching Domain Names
-
Hi! I recently got my website redone by a third party contractor on the WordPress.com/.org platform with Bluehost hosting. My blog was previously on that site, but the web designer suggested it would be easier to build my business site using my blog and integrate everything over there. My old business site lexiewrites.com still exists and I would like that domain name to be the name of my current site instead of the domain name alexisrcollins.com.
Site: https://alexisrcollins.com.
WP.com: Unknown
Jetpack: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
With that said, to establish a different domain your Bluehost hosting account, you’ll need to get in touch with them: https://www.bluehost.com/contact
Once that’s set, the domain can be transferred or directed to Bluehost: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#move-a-domain-name
Finally, you’ll follow the steps at https://wordpress.org/support/article/moving-wordpress/ to move the WordPress.org site to the new domain.
If that doesn’t work out, WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Could you please unlock the lexiewrites.com domain and provide an authorization code? I’m on the phone with Bluehost right now. Thank you!

You can unlock the domain and obtain the transfer code by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

I clicked the link and it says there are no domain names listed at this time, but lexiewrites.com is under WordPress.com

You’ll need to be logged in under the account which owns the domain, which is not the account you’re currently logged in under.
If you do not recall the password for the correct account, we have some options for you at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
