Switching from WordPress.com to Squarespace while keeping the domain name

  I’m considering moving to Squarespace. I currently have the free version of WordPress.com because I did not buy the domain name, but I see that WordPress ‘reserved’ my name in case I wanted to upgrade. My current domain is http://www.amandanygaard.wordpress.com I would like to switch to Squarespace but wondering if I can delete the wordpress account so that the domain http://www.amandanygaard.com is available for when I make the switch to Squarespace. Thank you.

  amandanygaard.com is available to register at any registrar. WordPress.com does not block you from doing that.
