Switching my domain name from a current site to a new Word Press site.

  I would like to get started with a new business site but want to keep my current site up and running until I finish building a new Word Press site. How do I build while my domain is currently being used?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  What is the URL in question? Is it a custom domain (johnsmith.com) or a WordPress.com domain (johnsmith.wordpress.com)?
