Switching themes

I tried switching themes, but instead WordPress sort of morphed the old and new themes together. How do I fix this?

Which theme layout do you want to keep? Please note that when you switch to a different theme you’re presented with two options. One to keep your current layout and the other the switch the new theme’s layout.

I wanted the Geologist-Slate theme/layout. I initially started with Heiwa, but switched to the Geologist/Slate and the coloring and font changed (great), but the positioning of the pictures/wording stayed Heiwa.

Hi there,
The reason it has that appearance is because the demo site displays blog posts on the homepage, so the look you see there is the default look for the blog posts page. https://wordpress.com/theme/geologist-slate
Your blog page uses this appearance and looks like the demo for Geologist, but to see it, you have to go to your blog posts page here: https://katiesmithconservation.wordpress.com/blog/.
The theme you used previously had a static homepage set (and did not display blog posts on the homepage), so it looks like your site has retained that setting and the original homepage from before the switch.
Are you trying to switch your theme’s settings, so that blog posts populate the homepage, similar to the Geologist theme demo? Or was it your intention to refactor the layout of your current homepage to have a single-column appearance identical to the demo but be page content and not blog posts?
Thanks for the additional info!
