Switching Username Help

I had two accounts: UsernameA and UsernameB. I want to keep the account for UsernameA and switch the branding to that on UsernameB. So I deactivated the entire account belonging to UsernameB. The username (nor the email) can no longer be used to log the account and UsernameB no longer renders any search results.
So now I am trying to switch UsernameA to UsernameB, and I continue to receive the error: ‘username is taken.’ I have waited about 4 days since I deleted the account for UsernameB and still the error.
Any thoughts? What further steps do I need to take in order to switch UsernameA to UsernameB? Can I recover the deactivated account for UsernameB?

Hi there,
Deleted usernames never become available again, so you will not be able to change UsernameA to UsernameB. A WordPress.com username can only be changed to a username that has never been used by anyone before, not to one that already exists, nor to one that has been deleted.
If you only deleted that account four days ago, we can still restore it for you. Please reply to the account closure email we sent you when you closed the account to request that.
Once you have that username back, you can instead transfer ownership of your site to the account you want to use it with:
