Syntax Theme has font problems

  Greetings, Syntax Theme is really nice one, but there is one main problem – font is wrong outside of just pure ASCII. Czech characters are wrong. Any chance to having this fixed?

  I see what you mean – thanks for the report. It looks like Syntax uses the Merriweather Google font for headings and body text:

  http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Merriweather

  I think the characters you need are there, so it could be that the theme is not importing them in the right way for Czech words to be rendered correctly. I’ll ask our developers to take a look and we’ll keep you posted here.

  Great, thank you. And btw, trying it in http://typecast.com/preview/google/Merriweather and even there it’s still problem. Not sure what set they load, though.

  “+ěščřžýáíéůú” has visible problem with “ě”, “č” and “ů”. This string can be used for basic test, i guess.

  I wanted to let you know that we’ve made a change to the way Merriweather is imported into Syntax so that a wider font set is included and the Czech display should improve. Even though we’ve done that, unfortunately Merriweather is simply missing some of the accented characters used in Czech – like č and ů for example – so you may still prefer a different theme with a wider character set, or use Custom Design to have Syntax display another font.

  Thank you, i will try to figure out if it is possible to notify Google about Merriweather missing something later. And yes, i did chooose other theme (Twenty Fifteen, really nice one i have to say).
