Table of Contents Formatting Issues
-
Hello, I am fairly new to wordpress and am having some serious TOC formatting issues. I have tried using every type of TOC plugin (such as Yoast TOC, Easy TOC, and Simple TOC) and every single one looks great while on editing view. Please view image below. This is what it looks like in editor view, exactly how I want it.

Once I update and go to the published page, it gets put into this unpleasant-looking bulleted list with no bullet differentiation.

This is not my desired look, so if anyone has any tips please let me know. I feel like it’s a simple issue but I cannot for the life of me troubleshoot it. I updated everything, cleared the cache, researched conflicting plugins and nothing seems to be working. Thank you!

Hi @kylie771af41e06, typically if it works in the editor but not on the site itself, it’s because your theme or potentially a plugin is overriding that style. You might try the Health Check plugin to confirm (it’d let you switch themes as a test without affecting the live site).
If you need more help with your WordPress installation, you’ll want to be sure to use the forums for the free, DIY WordPress code instead, as these forums are primarily for our free-tier hosting.
Here’s an overview of our services vs the DIY software, but in short, we provide hosting, maintenance, security, support, and spam filtering, as well as real-time backups depending on the plan you use. If you’re interested in moving your site here, let us know your goals with your site and any questions you have. We can confirm the best plan for your case and recommend your next steps.
Cheers!
