Tabs / Header / ??

Right now I have my page set as private with a free theme. I am trying to figure out how to set up the tabs for readers to click on sections like about me, contact me etc and I am having a hard time creating the tabs. Would you please tell me how to have the tabs show up? I thought I could do it by adding the different “tab” sections to the Pages section but that only shows up on the back end and not when I click to look at the page itself. I am new to all of this and it’s proving to be harder than I thought. Please help! Thank you! I am eager to get myself started with a public page.

If your pages are Private, your readers will not see them and there will be no tabs. You can’t see how things work for the public if they’re Private.
