Tag leads to external wordpress page
-
Hi,
I just started out with my first post. I added it to a category but did not tag it at all and yet a tag name appears under the post header. This tag leads to http://wordpress.com/tag/product-news-features/ which is not a page on my blog. How can i make this go away? -
Can you give us a link to the post in question? Starting with http please. It’s always easier for us to help out if we can see it and look at code, etc.
You can also make your name a link to your blog by going to Dashboard –> Profile and putting your blog under “Website”. Then it’ll work even when you leave comments; very useful.
All tags and categories on an individual post always lead to the WordPress global tag page, which is the page for everyone on WP.com who is using that tag. The tags/categories in the sidebar widget work differently, and take people to a page that’s unique to your blog, only listing your posts. While it’s counterintuitive, there are solid reasons for it to work the way it does and it’s responsible for why WP.com blogs do so well in the search engines. WP is not going to change this; believe me, a lot of people have asked.
