Tag Plugin

The school that I am working is using paid Word Press. We have a blog page and I would like to use the tag function. We have set up the tags as per instructions online. However when I click on the tag, it will only bring me to a page with latest posts instead of posts that are also using the same tag.
Correct me if I am wrong, I assume the ‘tag’ function is like ‘hashtags’ on social media, i.e. when I click on the tag it will only bring me results of the page/ post that uses the same tag.
At the moment I realised that the tags function will bring up other irrelevant content (posts that haven’t used tags or used different tags) to fill up the 10 spots it has. Not sure if I have missed any steps.
Would also appreciate it if anyone could suggest some external tag plugins that could provide this function.

On what site are you working? The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites on WordPress.com.
If you’re using the open source WordPress software at another host, please ask for help from the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums instead.
Tags are a built-in feature of the WordPress software, and does not require the use of any plugins.
