Technical Difficulties
-
Hi there,
I started a new blog last night and am having trouble with WordPress as it’s going very slowly and taking a while to load.
I looked to see if there were any known issues at this time and couldn’t find anything, have cleared my cache and cookies, and have tried other websites on my laptop which are all working fine.
It’s proving quite difficult to create posts with ease, please could you tell me how to proceed?
Kind regards,
Samantha ByeThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Samantha,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. It’s possible there is some sort of connection problem or slowdown between your location and one of our data centers. Could you load the following URLs and tell me if any of them are slow?
http://luv.wordpress.com/
http://iad.wordpress.com/
http://sat.wordpress.com/Also, can you tell me if there are other blogs that are slow for you on WordPress.com?

Hi there,
It’s ok now thank you. Think my internet may have been having an off day.
I am however having trouble with my Twitter widget now, rather than showing it just says ‘My Tweets’ on my blog and isn’t showing the feed or follow button?
-
Hi there,
I took a look at your blog, but I don’t see the Twitter widget there. Can you try setting it up again so I can take a look? That will help me understand why your tweets aren’t showing up.

Hello,
I have reinstated the widget and it still just says ‘My Tweets’.
Let me know your thoughts when you’ve seen it, thanks for your help.

Hi there,
To make the Twitter Timeline widget work correctly, you’ll need to enter your widget ID in the widget settings.
To get the widget ID, you’ll need to create a widget at Twitter.com. Then, you can enter your widget id (the long number found in the URL of your widget’s config page) in the widget settings. We have additional instructions for that here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/#widget-id
Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Hiya,
I did that. Every time I press save it just deletes it though. How do I make it stay in?
-
I’ve done it! But there’s a massive gap above and below, how do I get rid of that please?
-
Also please can you tell me how to remove the tweet stream? I just want to show the follow button. Have put 0 in the widget but it’s not removing them.

Hi there,
The Twitter Timeline widget is specifically meant to show your tweet stream, as well as the follow button. If you only want to add a follow button, I recommend using one of the follow buttons here: Twitter Follow Button
You can pick the follow button that you like, copy its shortcode, and then paste that shortcode into a Text Widget. Let me know if you have any other questions about that! :)
