Technical issues setting up blog

    I am having trouble setting up my blog the way I want to. If I had a guide to read along with the process , I think I would do better. As it is, every time I mess with anything to adjust a problem it gets worse. I was wondering if I could just download and print the support guide to follow it as I am going along. Going back and forth from screen to screen is difficult. If I were to buy a book they are out of date and do not have my theme .
    What is my best alternative???? I am not a techy , I am just a person who wants to write a personal blog. HELP!
