Text widget max character limit too low

  I am using the mailto command in a text widget to construct an email template for supporters of our campaign. The text widget does not seem happy if the character count exceeds roughly 1250. Is there a way to increase this limit? I am using Ocean Mist theme – is that connected to the problem?
