Thansferring a web site

I had a web site with Homestead. The premium got too expensive for me. I signed in with GreenGeeks and was unable to make changes, on my web site. They advised me to download WordPress and work with you. For two days we have tried to get the word processor to work. I gave up with them and wonder if you can fix the problem.
