Maybe by now that I have been posting a blog called ‘Subtext’ every week for the last 10 plus years. And every week I go to ‘site administration’ to find out how many people have viewed the blog. The results, of course, vary. The last blog on Doodles has attracted under 75 readers, which is unusual. I had had over 200 views for some of my older blogs.
Why is that? Is it possible that a potential reader got turned off at the title and did not want to bother. If someone clicked on the link, the blog would appear and does it not count as a ‘view’? I dont understand why only 30 people read this particular blog! And how would anyone choose not to read without clicking on the link and reading the blog? I hope I make sense!! If at least 100 people do not read the blog (meaning clicking on the link) I dont want to continue. Having said that I have to admit that there is a faithful readership out there. It’s impossible to divine intention from our stats.
Humans will be human, and sometimes they don’t want to read something, and sometimes they’ll really love something in particular. We aren’t robots, so I recommend that you don’t hold on to consistent stats. They will shift over time, and that’s normal.
Your best way to gauge intent is to simply ask your audience, maybe include a poll https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/poll-block/ or a survey https://wordpress.com/support/forms/polls/#create-a-survey-poll-or-quiz-on-crowdsignal in your next post.
