    Hello.

I work for the YMCA and we’ve decided to switch out website to a WordPress theme. I’ve received a template which I was told to upload to play around with how it feels. I’ve tried downloading wordpress and using a FTP to upload it but it wants me to create a MySQL database. Do i need to do this to get the theme working? I’m working on a tight deadline and this is just proving incontinent for just getting a feel to see if we’ll use wordpress.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are two kinds of WordPress: WordPress.com, which is a turnkey, secure blogging system where the tradeoff is limited customization; and WordPress.org, where you can FTP, upload themes, mess with the database, and use plugins.

This is the support site for WordPress.com blogs like http://ymca123.wordpress.com/ and if you want help with that, we can help you, if only to say you can’t upload a theme here. If you want help with a blog hosted elsewhere, that would be a WordPress.ORG blog and you need to be in their forums.
