Theme Adventure,

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear support,

I use the Premium Adventure Theme. I want to use the front page as it is right now, but it should not show the full blog posts but only each beginning. How can I do that? The option “Only show excerpts” in settings/reading does not work.

The ideal case would be to have my front page look like this: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/adventure/

    How can I do that?

    Thanks a lot guys,
    Rolf

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Rolf,

With the Adventure theme, you can use a Home Page template to make your front page look like the one on the Adventure theme description page. You can click on the Support button in the upper right on that page to find detailed instructions for setting up the Home Page template and other special theme features.

Here’s how to set up that Home Page template:

    • Create a Page, preferably titled “Home“
    • Set the Home Page Template within the Page Attributes
    • Navigate to Settings > Reading within the Dashboard
    • Choose the option to display a static page for the Front page
    • Select your newly created “Home” page from the Front page drop down list
    • Save the changes

If you have any questions about setting up the Adventure theme, you can also ask the theme author directly for help in the Adventure support forum here:

    http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/adventure

If you don’t want to use the Home Page template, but you want your blog posts to show only an excerpt, you can do that by adding the “more” tag to your posts. We have details about that here: More Tag

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

Thank you so far – I tried this before but the Home Page Template does not provide two columns as the theme example. The postfeed uses total width below the intro box.

Thanks for the hint with the More-Tag, I did not know this feature.

I posted this to the adventure forum, maybe they can help how to change the standard home page template.

    Thanks!

    You’re welcome! :)

That left column in the theme example is created by adding widgets to the theme’s left sidebar. You can go to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard to add widgets to that sidebar, and they will appear in a column on the left side of the home template. The theme author can also help you out if you have questions about that.

    Cheers!

Yes, I just found out that only left side widgets work. I was working with right side widgets. But that’s fine for me, thank you very much for your great and quick support!
