theme and domain mapping
-
I just bought the Pro package and the theme – Portfolio – I can seem to locate the theme part in the back end – it looks like it is only the blog portion. What I would like to do is completely set up my website and blog and then map over my current site stuartarnett.com to the new wordpress portfolio themed site/blog. does this make sense?
I want to be able to amalgamate my website stuartarnett.com and my old blog and my new site lifeisabuzz.com all in one easy to use website/blog at wordpress but have it as stuartarnett.com

Hi there, I’d be glad to help you get this set up how you want it.
I can seem to locate the theme part in the back end – it looks like it is only the blog portion
I’m not completely sure what you’re trying to do, but it sounds like you might want a static front page instead of having your latest blog posts on the front page, which is the default setup.
Is that what you’re after? If so, you can set that up following this guide.
Just let me know if this isn’t what you’re after, or if you need further help.

i think so kathyrn – I want it set up almost exactly like the demo image where there is a homepage and then several pages along the top and of the actual blog
I will try following the guide and see what happens.
thank you stuart

I think that worked Kathyrn
I’ll probably have to add some pictures to get it to look completely like the themed Portfolio Demo with the Rhinoceros picture.
Another question though if you don’t mind is how do I get the categories to show up – I have made 6 and once I feel I am ready to go with my “new site/blog” and I want to map over my domain stuartarnett.com this will essentially eliminate my old site and this new wordpress site will take over correct?

Looking good!
Categories will appear in the sidebar of your blog as soon as you’ve published at least one post in the category:
http://stuartarnett.wordpress.com/blog/
The category will also appear below each post to which it’s added, as you can see in the Portfolio theme demo here:

Hi Kathryn
not sure if you can help again but I have accidentally deleted my blog page and my blog posts – seven of them are not showing up now – I recreated a blog page but now I don’t know how to “reconnect” them so that my posts are showing up on my blog page – hoping you can help
tks

Hi there, I see two posts in your trash:
https://stuartarnett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=post
You can restore them by checking the box next to each and choosing “Restore” from the drop-down menu. Or, hover over each one and click the blue “Restore” link.
You can also restore your original Blog page by heading to Pages > Trash, here:
https://stuartarnett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=pageFollow the same instructions as above to restore it.
To reconnect the blog page to your posts, head over to Reading > Settings, and choose the blog page from the Posts page drop-down menu:
