    Hi,

How are you selecting the new theme, and where are you selecting it from. If you are referring to a WordPress.com theme, there should be an “Activate” button. Click on that button to activate the theme.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I am selecting it from wordpress.com and even after clicking the activate button it shows me the old theme, in above case it shows me SELA which was my old theme, I tried creating another site but there also the problem remains. I am new to wordpress and really thinking should I continue or not.

I was preparing to tell you that the site https://thinkingclouditblog.wordpress.com/ now has the Gazette theme activated, and that the site retained a featured image on the static homepage that you created from an image on the Sela theme, because featured images, custom header images, as well as various other images added while using one theme may be retained when we switch themes.

However, I now find that you’ve switched again to the Skylark theme, and your header image is gone.

    Hi,

Thank you for taking time to answer, yes I switched to Skylark to see if it changes but it is confusing me now as I can’t see anything, Is it because I am using the Free plan that I am getting this, for example if I use Wix it lets me change the theme without keeping anything from previous theme. Is this a bug ? I am unable to understand as I am from non-technical background. You know if anyone from wordpress can help ?

    Hi,

Is it because I am using the Free plan that I am getting this…Is this a bug ?

No. It is normal behavior. The only images which definitely won’t be retained under any circumstances when you switch to a different theme are the theme’s default images (header, featured, etc.).

You know if anyone from wordpress can help ?

You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.
