Theme: Twenty Fourteen Grid View "nothing found"

Well… playing around with the theme on my wordpress.com hosted site, I’ve encountered a problem.

When I first configured the site, it took me a minute to figure out that I needed to add a “featured” tag to my posts to get the grid view working. Once I started that, grid/slider worked just fine. I would like to change the grid view from 6 to 3 like in the preview, but my problem grew.

While I was modifying things in settings->reading, my site changed where in the content column under the grid, “Nothing Found – Ready to publish your first post” appeared. I’ve tried to reset everything back to default, but I’m at a loss.

I’m not sure if I have the ability to change the grid view to 3 tiles instead of 6, but if I do wish to use the grid view, I certainly need the content column populated.

To be clear, when I disable grid or slider view, my posts appear just fine. I even tried adding a new post to see if that would make a difference, but no joy.

    Thanks

Well… now… something even more fun and interesting has now occurred. I figured out that if I tag my posts with another tag… call it “homepage” for example, I can control then number of posts for the grid or slider. If I use that configuration however, it changes the posts in the content column. What happens if my latest post is tagged with “homepage” and is listed in the grid, it removes the post from the “latest” post in the content column.

    Thoughts?
