  how do i upload a theme to wordpress, I dont see an upload button anywhere?

  There is no “upload” button for themes here. At WordPress.com you choose to activate one of the 379 free or premium themes found here https://theme.wordpress.com/ Any other themes you may see are designed for self-hosted sites using the WordPress.com software.
