themes aren’t loading

Hi. I think I broke my website after installing the WordPress app. Nothing worked. The icons were blank, I couldn’t upload any images, and when I tried changing the theme on the app, it kept saying page expired or theme expired.

I logged in on desktop and troubleshooted the jetpack thing and it said something about an ‘XML-RPC’ but I couldn’t figure out how to activate it. Then the themes stopped loading completely, the free themes disappeared, so I uninstalled jetpack after another unsuccessful troubleshooting prompt. And now NOTHING works and when I try to login wordpress, they tell me to purchase a ‘mapping’ even though I’m already mapped through my hosting service, Bluehost. Help please!

  • Hi there,

What is the URL of your site?

Using the WordPress app can’t have any effect on your site, as there’s no intrinsic link between the app and your site. The app is simply a way to interact with your site instead of using a web browser.

I logged in on desktop and troubleshooted the jetpack thing and it said something about an ‘XML-RPC’ but I couldn’t figure out how to activate it.

XML-RPC is how the mobile app and the Jetpack plugin communicates with your site. If you’re getting an XML-RPC error in the Jetpack debugger, it means either that API is disabled at your host, or it’s being blocked, either by your host, or by a security plugin on your site. So if that’s the case, you’ll need to contact Bluehost support to make sure XML-RPC is enabled on your sever and that no security feature on their end is blocking access to it.

You can see the Jetpack support page about this for more details:
