‘There has been a critical error on this website’
-
All my posts, plugins, and themes are gone. I got an email from Jetpack the day it went down, but no real answer to what went wrong and no information since then. I have no idea what to do, anytime I try to access my site it just says ‘There has been a critical error on this website’ and suggests the WordPress FAQ page. Can I get anything back?

Hi there,
We’re limited in how we can help because we don’t house your site on our managed WordPress.com hosting service. Your host (Bluehost) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. Because of this we don’t have access to your server files, or the ability to take a closer look at your site.
The good news is that you can find help for the open source WordPress your site uses here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
Also, it’s worth mentioning that this kind of error is often related to a plugin conflict, so as a first step you may wish to disable all plugins manually. This guide will walk you through how to do that with the server access you have with Bluehost: https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/
This should bring your site online again, and then you can reactivate the plugins one at a time. If you find the site is offline again it’s usually due to the last plugin you activated, and then you can take a closer look at that as the source of the issue.
Best of luck!
