‘There has been a critical error on your website’ Error message

I tried to login in to my WP Admin when I received the error message ‘There has been a critical error on your website’. Support forums tell me utilise the error email I would have received. I have not received an email from WordPress telling me I have technical issues. I checked and the email on my account is correct, it’s not in spam folder either. Other info says to check server error logs but I cannot log in to my Admin page at all. I am not the one who created the site and do not have much technical knowledge so would appreciate some help in layman’s terms if possible. Thank you :)

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com.
Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:
