"This site cannot be accessed" error from Jetpack Premium.

I had to delete the user I connected Jetpack with… how do I re-enter my credentials and reconnect my site with Jetpack? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Incidentally, I get prompted for priority support, or contact us – but that just puts me in a “please log in loop” (I am already logged in) that never resolves (so I can never contact anyone).

  • Hi there,

For what site is this? If you’re currently disconnected from the site, it won’t be one of the sites in your account, meaning I don’t know which site to check.

Note that it would also be better to contact Jetpack support directly for help with this:

The site I am referencing is jaredsnider.mystagingwebsite.com. It is listed in my sites, but it fails in many things (ex. “This site cannot be accessed” in the left sidebar). It is because it is using an old username/password that no longer exists.

I have Jetpack Premium through Pressable. When I first set up Jetpack I authorized the credentials to my site “automagically”. That user has now been deleted so the credentials Jetpack has are failing. I need to re-enter my credentials for the site to Jetpack so it can properly interact with my site (backups, etc.)… but I cannot find anywhere to do so in any of the Jetpack settings.

Also, I already tried contacting support but I cannot access any of the support contact as it puts me in an infinite loop of “Please Log In > Logged In > Forums > Contact Us > Please Log In…”. It refuses to recognize me as being logged in.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    This support article says:

“Jetpack Backups are activated as soon as you approve access to your credentials. When you connect to Jetpack backups the first time, you’ll be prompted to do so in the Activity Log. You can also add these credentials by going to Settings → Security.”

However, this is what my settings look like.

    Thanks for your help.

That would indicate a problem with cookies in your browser. Please make sure your browser is allowing third party cookies, and then clear the browser cache and cookies completely. Next log into your WordPress.com account again.

Now the Jetpack contact form should be able to detect you as logged in, but you should also be able to reconnect Jetpack by logging into the WP-Admin dashboard of your site with Pressable. Once logged into the dashboard, click on Jetpack ->Dashboard and follow the steps there to disconnect/reconnect the site to your WordPress.com account.

Yea, I don’t like cookies thanks. I disconnected/reconnected and everything is OK, thank you. Maybe the support article should be updated… I didn’t see the security settings referenced there. Thank you for your help.

  • Any online service that uses an account from another service for authorization depends on tracking your login via a cookie. I understand if you don’t want cookies enabled globally in your browser, but then at least consider adding an exception for WordPress.com and for your site’s URL.

You can also configure most browsers to automatically clear cookies each time you close it, or do it via a browser add-on if your browser doesn’t have the option built in. But if you don’t allow cookies at all you’re likely also preventing other websites from working the way they are designed to.
