Thumbnail needed when sharing website. Hemingway Rewritten Theme, possible?

How to create a thumbnail when sharing website on Facebook and other sites for the Hemingway Rewritten theme? When I go to customize> header it does not give me options to put an Open Functions or php or anything I’ve been reading on the internet.
Is it possible to make a thumbnail (standard) for my blog when sharing my site? Please and thank you.

It wouldn’t be possible to put an Opens Functions or php on WordPress.com. This would only be possible on the self-hosted, WordPress install on WordPress.org. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

However, you can still share your posts via Publicize. This connects to Facebook, Twitter, Path, Google+, Tumblr and LinkedIn. Take a look here for more information:

Please help: What can I do about my problem then? Is there any way to have an image icon/thumbnail when I share my website?
I took your advice and added Publicize and it seems to be set up smoothly. But when I type wifecode828.com into Facebook (on my timeline, or a group page, etc) I would like there to be an image next to the link.
Currently I have featured images set on all pages and posts. When I copy/paste the link from my other pages, there is an icon in Facebook next to the link. BUT when I type the main page/home page into social media, there is no icon, just blank. People click links with images more than without. Please please help.

Unfortunately we cannot control what Facebook pulls as an image. However, I was able to debug it as seen here:

Try sharing your site again and the image should pop up as seen in the Share Preview. This debug will not affect the previous shares of your site, but will affect shares going forward. So, please try re-sharing the link to your site on Facebook.
