Thumbnails not showing for FB or Twitter

I recently took over responsibilities for managing https://bppj.berkeley.edu/ and the thumbnail images for our posts aren’t showing on Facebook or Twitter. I’m not sure what the issue is and I was wondering if I could get some troubleshooting help.

The site bppj.berkeley.edu appears to be a self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) site hosted on University of California at Berkeley web servers, and not a site hosted on our WordPress.com service.

To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and Berkley.edu also happens to use WordPress but they use a different version of the platform (the free open-source version) than what we use here.
