Timeing out when trying to publish anything after changing the menu settings

Hello, I’m having issues doing anything to the menu items now. the site times out and gives me the error ‘This site can’t be reached’ when trying to change anything. initially i just wanted to make the menu to be the primary so it’ll show on the site.

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I tried both steps without anything changing. I am updated to the latest version on google chrome. It was working yesterday, but ever since this morning the issue arose.

Out of curiosity, what if you try a different browser like Firefox or Microsoft Edge instead? Is this an issue that happens only in Chrome? or does it happen no matter what browser you use?
Thanks for the additional info!

Thank you for the response!
same thing happened when I tried it on Edge as well. I add the categories to the menu, then once I try to do anything, publish with or without being the primary, it loads for a while, then completely cant connect.
Thank you!

This is an issue with soundwichartist.wordpress.com yes?
I noticed you mentioned “I add the categories to the menu…” but I don’t actually see any categories are set up on that site when I look here, just the default category: https://wordpress.com/settings/taxonomies/category/soundwichartist.wordpress.com
I also noticed you do not have any blog posts here, and I see only the sample blog post we add to all new sites when they are starting out: https://wordpress.com/posts/soundwichartist.wordpress.com
Is this an issue you are having with a different site? Or are you trying to add categories to your menu on soundwichartist.wordpress.com before you create any blog posts?
Thanks for the additional info!

Yes, so that is the correct website. I reset the website to see if that’d fix it. It didn’t, but I recreated the issue, I have another menu, named menu 1. I try to add my categories to it, and when i try to “save menu” is when it times out.

Hi there!
I went to check your site for the new menu called Menu 1 but I only see one menu called “Primary” as shown on this screenshot: https://d.pr/i/gLh1St
Could you try creating the menu and adding the categories again and take a screenshot (or multiple screenshots) as soon as you run into the issue or see the error messages? Here’s how to take a screenshot if you’re not sure: https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload the screenshots to your site’s media library at https://wordpress.com/media and we can take a look at them.
Let us know after you’ve uploaded the screenshots.

Alright, I uploaded the screen shots. The issue happens when I try to create the menu after creating the categories.
Thank you!

Thanks for uploading the screenshot!
