I currently have my domain name with Go Daddy and I just renewed with Go Daddy would it be better for me (financially) to renew with Go Daddy or transfer to wordpress where I am considering building a website.

Hi there,
First, do you know you can use WordPress with GoDaddy? They’re a popular host for the open source version of WordPress found on WordPress.org, so you can chat with them about their hosting plans for that software.
If you prefer to host your site with us on WordPress.com, though (you can see here for an overview of the differences between the two versions of WordPress), I would say transferring your domain to us would be more convenient, as it will allow you to manage your site and domain in the same place.
Speaking financially, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan to use your domain with us – our plans range from $48 to $300 (US$) a year, so you can compare that to GoDaddy’s hosting plans pricing.
If you transfer the domain to us using the free domain included in all our plans, that will also renew the domain for an additional year. Going forward the domain will renew separately from the plan, though, so the annual renewal cost will be the cost of the plan, plus the cost of the domain – currently $18 for most common domain extensions, like .com, so you can compare that to GoDaddy’s domain renewal pricing to determine what would work best for you.
If you leave the domain at GoDaddy and just map it to us, you’ll still need a plan, but there won’t be any additional cost for the domain on our end.
