too many items in the menu dont allow customizer to work

  Hello dear WordPress team,

  I have such an issue:

  I created a menu for and added a big amount of items (almost 3000) to this menu. After adding items and saving the menu, I cannot open the customizer, when I try to open it, i get 504 timeout nginx Error.

  Is it possible to solve this issue, so that I can use the customizer with this amount of items in the menu?

  Or should I decrease the amount of items in the menu? And if I should do that, what is the amount of items in the menu which will allow to open the customizer? 500,1000?
