Transfer a domain to Word Press

    I own a domain name and it’s currently supplied by Dotster – I forward calls to that domain name to my word press blog. I want to transfer that domain name from dotster to Word Press. NOTE: I don’t want to map it from Dotster as I’ll still have to pay for it on Dotster as well as pay the mapping fee on word press. I want to just pay the 2.99 per month to word press. Is that possible?

    Hi there,

    Unfortunately, we can’t accept incoming domain transfers, so you won’t be able to transfer your domain directly here to WordPress.com. Instead, you have a couple options:

    1. You can transfer your domain to a different domain registrar that does let you change your name servers. Then, you can change them with this guide: Change Name Servers

    2. You can keep your domain registered at Dotster and change the domain’s A records. However, please note that our IP addresses change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.

    If you want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please point two different IPs from the list below:

    192.0.78.25

    192.0.78.24

    You can no longer register or map a domain individually with WordPress.com. Moving forward, domain subscriptions can be purchased as a part of one of our many plans here.
