transfer blog content from old domain to new
-
I’d like to change my blog domain. It it currently belledelabook.wordpress.com. I would like it to become (email visible only to moderators and staff). I have both domain names registered. Can I export/import the content from belledelabook to chapterthoughts? And can I keep my username (belledelabook?)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oops – I mistyped the intended name of the new blog. What I meant to say was “I would like it to become chapterthoughts.wordpress.com.”

Hello,
Can I export/import the content from belledelabook to chapterthoughts?
Absolutely! The content from belledelabook.wordpress.com can be exported using these instructions:
You can then import that content into chapterthoughts.wordpress.com using these instructions:
And can I keep my username (belledelabook?)
You can, yes! Your belledelabook account is the owner of both sites.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, Gemma!
Another question: It looks like Chunk theme is no longer supported. I really liked its design and am afraid I’ll lose it if I export to a new blog as you described. Any way to keep it?
-
You’re welcome!
Chunk is a retired theme. While you can continue to use it on your old site, you won’t be able to activate it on your new site. If you tell me what you like about Chunk, I’ll be happy to make some recommendations. Just let me know :)

What I liked about Chunk was the clean interface.
– focus on text
– customizable header
– comment button near the top of each post
– search box near the bottomThe only thing I would change would be adding a widget to the side that lists the categories and/or tags of each post. So, a single center column for text, and an additional column to the side for categories.
That’s the only thing I would change about Chunk – I liked all the other features, so I’m disappointed it’s no longer supported.

Hello,
I’ve had a look through our Theme Showcase and picked out a few you might like:
- Cerauno — supports five widget areas
- Truly Minimal
- Penscratch 2
- Minnow — this theme doesn’t have a customizable header but I chose it because the layout is very similar to Chunk
- Libre 2
- Lyretail
- Twenty Sixteen
There is a features list on the left of each theme page. You can use these to compare which theme has more of the features you are looking for.
Do you like the look of any of the ones I’ve picked out?
-
I looked at them all, and had almost settled on Twenty Sixteen, but then I came across Plane. I’m trying that one out. Thanks for the suggestions!

A different question for you: I would like to add the “media credit” plugin to my blog, but do not see an option to do so. When I search within the plugin section, media credit does not show up. I found it in the plugin directory here below, but only as a file to download. I’m not sure how to configure it.
-
Hello,
I would like to add the “media credit” plugin to my blog, but do not see an option to do so.
The Media Credit plugin you’ve found is not compatible with WordPress.com. Installing custom plugins isn’t currently supported on WordPress.com and is a feature of self hosted WordPress.org sites:
The plugin list you are seeing is all the plugin functionality bundled into WordPress.com — SEO and Google Analytics would be turned on if you upgrade.
If you want to add media credits, I’d recommend adding captions to your images.
