Transfer .co.nz domain

  Hi, I have a .co.nz domain which I would like to transfer to a wordpress site. As far as I can tell .co.nz domains are not supported. What is the best way for me to transfer the domain? Thanks

  Hi there,

  It is not possible to transfer a .co.nz domain here, no, as we are not an accredited registrar for that domain extension.

  If you want to use such a domain here, you can do so via our domain mapping option instead. This means the domain registration will remain with your current domain provider, but you’ll point the domain to our servers from over there, and use the domain mapping upgrade to connect it to your site over here:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Domain mapping requires a paid plan.

  Thanks for the quick reply. A couple further questions:
  If I map the domain, can I be on any of the paid plans (e.g. premium)?

  Is it possible to unregister the domain at my current registrar, then register it via wordpress, thus avoiding the inability to transfer?

  Yes, you can map the domain on personal, premium or business plan. No worries there.

  I don’t advise that you cancel the domain registration. That process is actually quite lengthy and risky to you – someone else could snatch it up and then you’re left empty handed.
