transfer domain

hi, im trying to transfer my domain away from wordpress. have got the transfer code and have a note saying I can transfefr it but my new site keeps saying I need to update wordpress settings first. ive updated my wordpress site again and again but I cant get it to work

Are you speaking of alkalabengalsaustralia.com? Our logs show you’ve cancelled that domain, which means you no longer own it. You cannot transfer a domain you don’t own.
Please confirm whether we should restore that domain to your account so you can transfer it.
In order for you to access the domain’s settings it also needs to be connected to an active WordPress.com site. As you deleted the only site in your account, alkalabengalsaustralia.wordpress.com, after cancelling the domain, should we just restore that account and reattach the domain to it, or would you prefer to create a new site for this purpose? If you want to create a new site, please do that before confirming, as we cannot restore your domain until that site exists.
