  Eventually I want to transfer my domain to WordPress. However, I need time to rebuild the website with WordPress before it goes live and I shut down my current website. Can I do this?

  If you create a site on WordPress.com we automatically generate a free address at which your site is hosted on our servers. You can build your site at that free address and only switch your custom domain over once you’re ready.
