Transfer domain

  I see the message that our domain expires in one day. The person who can transfer to me does not seem to be available. We are a university organization and our officers turn over every few years. How can I get it transferred to me without the previous user?

  The site’s current owner will need to follow the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/ to transfer ownership of the site and its domain to your account.

  I understand that, and if I could find the previous owner, that is what I would do. I need to get it transferred without that person who is not available.

  We cannot subvert the current owner on the site, as both the site and domain are their property.

  Only the owner of the site can transfer both ownership of the site and domain.
