Transfer domain

  It appears WordPress won’t let me start building our new site without transferring our original site domain first. This can’t be correct. We need to leave the old site active until this one is finished. How do I go about doing that? I cannot transfer store until I have another site, obviously. Thanks

  Oh, I really don’t want to change domain names for mapping, if at all possible. Keeping our current domain is paramount.

  Hi there,

  There is no need to transfer, or even to connect, a domain to create a new site here.

  While creating a new site, on the domains step just type in a key word rather than a full domain, and you should see a free WordPress.com or .blog subdomain in the list of suggested domains that you can use instead.

  This free address is yours to use for as long as your site exists, regardless whether you later add your own custom domain or not.
