Transfer domain name

    I purchased a domain name through squarespace, but would like to use wordpress instead. I’m still within the 60 lock period from squarespace but would like to get started building a wordpress site. Can I start with the free wordpress.com/blognameofmychoice option and then transfer the domain name after 60 days and attach it to the wordpress site I’ve already created? I understand that the transfer and hosting through wordpress require a plan upgrade from the free option. I just am eager to get started with my site and don’t want to wait two months before publishing anything, but if it’s difficult to change a wordpress.com/etc. free site to one with a domain name, it might be worth the wait.     Hi there,

    You can start creating your site on a free WordPress.com site and after the 60-day transfer lock you’ll be able to transfer your domain here and subsequently hide the .wordpress.com address.

    Also, if you don’t want to wait for 60 days, you can keep the domain with your current registrar and map it to your WordPress.com site any time. For that, you’ll need an upgraded plan. as the mapping upgrade is only included in our paid plans. For more information you can read this article:
