Transfer domain name/derelict CMS
-
Hi!
I’m an intern at a music studio and I’m in charge of building their new website. The company wants to build its new site with wordpress (combined with elementor). I’m just wondering what is the best way to migrate our existing website.
We already have a VPS and a registrar (2 different provider) which we’ll link/connect to the wordpress. The problem is our old website is built on a derelict CMS (Abe CMS from 2017) and I don’t know what to expect from this when we’ll link everything together.
Also, in the meantime, is it possible for me to just build a website with the free wordpress.com address and link/connect our existing adress once the website is ready for publication? Thanks again
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

You certainly can get your site set up here before switching your domain over!
When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.
Here’s a guide that will help you migrate your site to WordPress.com:
