transfer domain or registar domain?

So I have a website at GoDaddy that I just started have not published yet then I realized that WordPress and GoDaddy could interface easily with each other but I don’t now which option to use? What are the benefits to either of these options or the differences? I am pretty new to understanding the whole concept of websites and hosting etc. A real newbie I could use some suggestions! Also I have of course paid for the domain at GoDaddy through 2020 but have always used the free WordPress. What to do?

What are the benefits to either of these options or the differences?
We have some information about the main differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:
Generally, WordPress.org is more hands on and requires you to take care of security and maintenance — whereas we handle that on WordPress.com.
Another difference is the Business plan is required to install plugins and custom themes on WordPress.com.
If you would like to keep the domain registered with GoDaddy until 2020 (rather than transferring and renewing here), it can be connected to WordPress.com with domain mapping:
