Transfer Domain to another Website Builder Site

    Hi there,

    I’m a little confused on how to move my domain to another site. I changed my domain (www.briannesiegel.com) here on wordpress wp-admin accidentally to http://www.briannesiegel.wordpress.com. Now my site does not show up with the theme I purchased.

    Now I’m trying to figure how to move my domain outside of WordPress to another website builder (www.format.com). Do I delete my site in order to do this? I don’t need the structure or any of the contents that I had on http://www.briannesiegel.com, I just want to keep the domain. Thanks!

    Hi htere,

    The domain, briannesiegel.com, is not registered or hosted with us. It looks like you bought that domain from publicdomainregistry.com, and it’s currently hosted with ehosts.com. That domain has never been connected to a WordPress.com site or account.

    If you changed the domain in the WP-Admin settings of your self-hosted site, that will break the site and lock you out of the dashboard. To fix it you’ll need to log onto your server via FTP access at your host to edit your site’s files directly.
