Transfer domain to another WordPress.com site

  I keep trying to transfer my purchase custom domain to another WordPress site on my account and it never makes the change.

  The original WordPress.com site was deleted and the custom domain had expired.

  I renewed the custom domain with WordPress.com, created a new site and attempted to transfer the domain which did not happen.

  How do I get this to work?

  I was receiving no error messages on iOS/Safari. I have attempted this on both Chrome and Firefox and actually get a pop-up window that states “transfer failed” with no other information.

  In an attempt to fix this quickly, I tried to cancel the renewal thinking I could just go buy the custom domain for the new blog site. The cancel upgrade produced a blank ‘error’ dialog and did nothing.

  Duh.. I had not purchased premium on the new site yet so it wasn’t allowing me to transfer the domain. I have now and it allowed the transfer, however the domain name still points to the original site.

  You should add “This site does not support Custom Domains, please review upgrade options” or similar to the error dialog rather than “Transfer failed”…

  I now see that I made a mistake in trying to renew the custom domain as I did on that deleted site. I have purchased Premium for the new site but need the domain leebutler.me released so I can use it.

  Please cancel the $13 custom domain fee on leebu.wordpress.com.
