Transfer Domain to new registrar on expired domain name
-
Our domain name “LibertyBlazers.com” has expired. We no longer use WordPress but have a different hosting service, but we wish to transfer the Domain name that we got from WordPress originally. When trying to transfer it, in the Domain Manager it does not show up ( I assume because it is expired). We tried to just get the domain name from our new registrar but it says its still owned by WildWestDomains. Please help with what the process is and who we need to contact to get this expired domain name back to us.
Thanks,

Hi there,
Expired domains go through a lengthy expiration process that you can read more about here: Domain Expiration
When a domain expires, you essentially give up ownership of it — it can’t be transferred to another registrar and there is no guarantee that it will become available for you to register again later. We recommend not letting domains expire unless you’re sure you’re done using them.
Your domain is currently still available to be renewed under Store > My Upgrades in your dashboard. The domain is in the redemption phase (described at the link above), so our registrar adds a late fee for renewal. You are welcome to renew the domain and then transfer it to another registrar if you’d like.
If you don’t want to renew the domain with us, you can let it expire and try to renew it later. However, there is no guarantee that it will be available for you to register after it fully expires. I’d recommend renewing it now to guarantee that you can keep using it.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this!
