transfer domain, why?

    hello, i bought a space and domain name from Hostgator , now i want to create a website with wordpress, but i asked to either transfer to workdpress.com or map my own domain…. what is this? i just need worldpress to construct the website, i dont want to transfer anything, cna someone help?

    Hi there, WordPress comes in two different versions and they’re both called “WordPress” which might be confusing. When you buy hosting and a domain from Hostgator, you will be using the open source WordPress software on their servers rather than hosting your site here on the WordPressdotcom platform.
