transfer domin to wordpress

If I have my own domain from somewhere else
transferring to wordpress.com is there possibility of losing the domain name ? -
There is no chance of losing the domain in the transferring process. But if it is something that you are concerned with, you could always keep your domain at your current registrar and then set up Domain Mapping to point it to your WordPress.com site:

Functionally, it really makes no difference if you map or transfer your domain. Both work equally well and will send users to your site when they enter your domain into their browser.
What it really comes down to is if you have opinions on the ease of keeping your site billing in one place (one bill from WordPress.com vs a bill from WordPress.com and a bill from your domain registrar). Or if you have a particular reason to want to use an external registrar (perhaps you have many domains and want to keep them all registered in the same place).
