Transfer template to new website
-
Hello,
I bought the theme PERIODICAL to create a new website : I want to use it for a different site than the one I already have within my WP account : journeesnationales2017.wordpress.com.
I though created a new site within my current WP interface but I don’t want my profile “journeesnationales2017” to appear on this new site (as it currently appears in the carousel for exemple : cepnl.wordpress.com). How can I manage this ? Is it possible – or necessary – to migrate this new website to a new WP account ?
Thanks a lot for your help,

Hi there,
Just to clarify, you want the theme to still belong to this username, journeesnationales2017, but be on the site, journeesnationales2017.wordpress.com? Please confirm, then I can move the theme for you.
Then you don’t want the site, cepnl.wordpress.com, to be associated with the journeesnationales2017 account? The only way to unlink the two would be to create a new username account, and then transfer the site to that account:
Transferring a Site to Another WordPress.com Account
But please first confirm and wait for me to move the theme to the new site before you transfer the site, else the theme will transfer to the other account along with the site.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your prompt answer.
Ideally, I would like to manage several sites from one WP account but I do not want the information of my first site (original profile) to be seen on my other sites. So I guess that would mean create a new username account as you suggest.
Will i have to create a new account each time I’ll need to create a new website ? It is not possible to have a general account (company name for exemple) and develop several sites from it ?
Many thanks for your kind support,

We need to distinguish between your site and your profile/account.
@journeesnationales2017 is your username, or your account. That’s linked to a public profile on Gravatar.com, but that profile doesn’t show any sites by default. You need to add a site to your profile before it will be visibly linked to your profile.
In your account you can have any number of sites. Each site is a completely separate entity, with no link whatsoever between them. Unless you manually link one site to another, there is no way someone can simply tell that you are the owner of both sites.
If the sites are in the same account, the same username/public display name will show as author of posts on the sites, but that’s the only visible link there would be. Clicking on the username won’t list all the sites you own, unless you yourself added all the sites to your public profile.
If you don’t want even the username on the sites to be the same, you’ll need to use separate accounts for each site.

OK, I guess I will though need separate accounts for the 2 sites as the company name is to exactly the same and I can’t have my name to appear on the sites.
Thanks for your help,

Should I proceed and move the theme to the other site for you? I still need you to confirm that :)
-
yes please, so I will not have any trouble with the 2 sites and the profile to show up when posting articles.
Besides, I have issues on using the Periodical theme : are you able to help me ?
Thanks a lot !

Okay, I’ve moved the theme back to journeesnationales2017.wordpress.com for you.
You can find detailed instructions on using Periodical here:
https://wordpress.com/theme/periodical/setup
But let me know if you have any specific questions.

Hi,
Hello,
Thanks a lot but that was not what i needed… i just needed my new website to be separated from the journeesnationales2017 site (i don’t want to touch this one).
Can you please move it back to CEPNL ? I need the Periodical theme for the CEPNL site, I just did not want the 2 sites to to be under the same profile.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Marine -
My apologies. I thought that’s what you were confirming when you said “yes please” above. I’ve moved the theme back to the first site.
If you transfer that site to a different username account, the theme will be transferred with it.

Thanks a lot! My mistake if I was not clear enough, sorry for the misunderstanding.
If the theme is transferred with a new username account, will i have to set it up again from scratch ?
If it remains within my current profil, is there a way to delete the part where the profile is mentioned ? (in the slide show for exemple or at the end of each article) ?
Many thanks for your kind support,

If you transfer your site to a different account, the whole thing is transferred as is. In other words, it doesn’t change the site in any way. It just changes which accounts have access to the site.

You’ll need to use custom CSS to hide the author links in the content, and that requires the Premium or Business Plan upgrade. The username will still appear in the author archives URL, however. There’s no way to change that.

Thank you very much for your precisions.
It would though be better to transfer the whole CEPNL site to a different account in order to separate the 2 sites (especially if someday someone else needs to manage it).
Would it be possible to do that ?
Thanks a lot,
Marine -
It’s possible, yes.
First, log out of this account, clear your browser cache and cookies, and then create a new account via this link:
https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/
Then log back into this account, and follow the instructions I linked in my first reply to transfer the site to the new account:
