Transfer the domain

  Hi,
  I have purchased my domain for 10 years from GoDaddy. If I want to transfer the same to WordPress, how much do I need to pay in total and where (for the whole 10 years)? Also, since one renewal is free, does that mean I will have the domain for 11 years ?

  Hi there,

  WordPress.com does not offer a multi-year registration option, so you can only renew one year at a time currently.

  If you have your domain from another provider who offers this option, and you have paid for multiple years, I would recommend keeping the domain with your provider for now. You would lose any of the years you have paid with them currently, and when the domain arrives here we do renew it for one extra year, but you would then need to renew yearly after that.

  Instead you can keep your domain with GoDaddy (recommended) and use domain settings to “connect” it to your WordPress.com site. This will allow you to use your custom domain as the address for your site instead of the “WordPress.com” address we assign it at the time it is set up.
