Hi tobydoggy234,
We have some information about moving an existing site to WordPress.com:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/
It’s worth noting that we don’t provide FTP access, so it won’t be possible to “copy” all of the code behind your site straight onto WordPress.com servers. The link above explains how to import existing content and media to WordPress.com.
Do you currently have a self hosted WordPress.org site or is it hosted on another platform like Wix or Blogger?

Hi, thanks for trying to help here.
My site is a test site hosted on IXwebhosting. It is “in progress,” ie not publicly hosted, but can be viewed.
I need to upload css/html files to get hosted by WordPress. I will check out the link above and see if I understand the information.
Please understand that I have NO IDEA what you’re talking about when you say: “It’s worth noting that we don’t provide FTP access, so it won’t be possible to “copy” all of the code behind your site straight onto WordPress.com servers.”
Does this mean the answer to my question is NO? I am not a web tech person and I wouldn’t be doing any of this coding or moving of my site.
OK, I do NOT HAVE A WORD PRESS SITE. I do not mean to yell, but want to make it clear. As I mentioned, my site is hosted elsewhere and it was built using Dreamweaver, which is apparently not a platform, but a way to add code without knowing a ton about code. (My website guy did all this.)
I have an actual WEBSITE, not just a blog. It has many pages.
So, when you say I can import existing content and media to WordPress, what does that mean? After importing, will I have my website ON wordpress, photos and all? Again, because I have NO background in this website stuff, I don’t get it. The two answers above seem to conflict one another.
Last question: can a member of your staff import my site for a fee?
Thank you so much. I am learning a lot here, wish I’d started at Word Press.

Please note: the following sentence is WRONG. I DO NOT have a blog at wordpress.
That is the whole point of my question.
The blog I need help with is mylifeasadate716162580.wordpress.com. THIS IS AN AUTO-GENERATED comment.

Whilst you are waiting for a response from @gemmacevans I’ll just mention that actually you do have a blog here at WordPress.com. It is https://mylifeasadate716162580.wordpress.com/ and was created when you created this account you are currently posting from.
You have complicated things by opening another thread which has also been replied to by a staff member and has been marked as a duplicate. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transfer-website-to-wordpress-ie-upload-html-1?replies=3#post-3087296
I’m unsure if Dreamweaver is compatible with WordPress.com (or .org). An .xml file is required to import content (not theme etc) here. Also read: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ -
If the timestamps on the replies by Staff are any indication then this is the duplicate thread and I’ll go ahead and close it in order to keep all support in one place. Please reply here if you have any further question https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transfer-website-to-wordpress-ie-upload-html-1#post-3087495 Thanks.
@themagicrobot Sometimes there’s a hiccup in submitting the contact form. Nothing the user can do anything about. Cheers.
