Hi there,
I understand you’re looking to transfer your domain to WordPress.com but are currently unable to access your account at Tripod/Lycos.To move a domain registration, the current provider (the “losing registrar”) must release it. WordPress.com cannot “pull” a domain away without authorization from the current host. To move forward, you will eventually need two things from Tripod/Lycos:
- An Unlocked Domain: The “transfer lock” must be disabled.
- An EPP/Transfer Code: This is a unique authorization key provided by your current registrar.
Here is what you can do now:
- Your first priority is regaining access to your Tripod/Lycos account. You will need to contact Lycos Support directly to verify your identity and recover your login credentials.
- If you can’t get into the Lycos dashboard but still have access to the email address you used to sign up years ago, keep an eye on that inbox. Transfer authorizations are often sent there.
- If Lycos is unresponsive or refuses to provide you with your transfer code after you’ve verified your identity, you have rights under ICANN rules. You can file a Domain Transfer Complaint if they do not assist you within five days.
Once you have that EPP code and the domain is unlocked, we can certainly help you finish the transfer process to WordPress.com.
Best regards,
Michael
